Omnipresent
Hebrews 4:13 (NIV)
"Nothing in all creation is hidden from God's sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account."
This past weekend I had the opportunity to do something that we do not do very often. I opened up with a few others and talked about the struggles of "hidden" or "secret" sins. It is easy to see other people's sins; homosexuality, drunkenness, drug addiction, gluttony, murder, etc. These are some sins that are easily visible and people even look down upon those who are committing these sins.
The three of us who were enjoying the conversation, all came from different backgrounds and all have different testimonies. One opened up about how he looked at someone who is close to him and did not understand why he kept relapsing into drugs. Another one of us recalled a similar instance where someone was that way with alcohol. An additional person was mentioned who could not refrain from premarital sex with multiple women.
But in the end there was this conclusion, we are just as guilty as they are. we are just as week in different areas as they are. Our sins were just less transparent, less visible to others. Which in turn makes it harder for us to confess those sins to other people. We are in constant need of repentance and mercy from our Lord Jesus Christ. Those who are out there and we can see there sins, we should show them God's grace and love. They are no different than us. We need to hold onto God's promises and follow Jesus' teachings and examples he set for us. We all need to stay in the bible reading the words so that we may answer the tempter with scripture ("it is written...") when he calls upon us, and see the way that God has provided for us out of sin.
Challenge: Remember that the sins we commit in secret are just as bad as those that are visible. If you see someone this week struggling with sin, reach out to them, ecourage them, and share the gospel of Jesus Christ with them.
“If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” Romans 10:9
