What is your blue print?

Matthew 7:24-26 (NIV)
"Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house. and it fell with a great crash."

The first step in this is to hear the word. But more importantly is our actions after we hear. To look at it in a different way, the bible is like the blue print to a building. It guides you, instructs you how to build the structure at hand. We have to have that in order to know what to do, and to guide us in how to correctly accomplish things. Just as a builder needs to turn to the blue print to tell them what to do, we need to turn to the bible.

But what good is the blue print if the builder doesn't do what it says. That can cause major problems, electrical fires, structural problems, and so on. But even more so if the builder has the blue print and decides to do nothing with it. Nothing would get accomplished. We have the blue print that God has given us. We should be turning to the bible when we have questions. Referencing it to know what is right or wrong. How to handle situations, and how to act. If we follow the blue print that God has given us then we will accomplish what God has set forth before us to accomplish.

We are not saved by the deeds that we do, we are only saved by the blood of Jesus Christ. However, a tree is known by its fruit and in faith we are to do what God's word tells us to do. Loving one another,  caring for one another, tithing, and much more.

"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law." Galatians 5:22-23

What do you reference when something is brought up, when something is questionable, when someone says something and you are not sure if it is scriptural? I always go back and say to myself, what does the bible say about those questions. Then I look to see how I am to act in that situation. You can let others know you believe this or that is wrong but still be loving toward them. You do not have to accept sin in our society, but you can use it to share the love and truth of Jesus Christ our Lord.

Challenge: When you hear something this week, in the news, at work, etc. that may sound questionable. Look to the bible and see what God says about the situation. Apply what Jesus teaches, and act accordingly.

“If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” Romans 10:9
