Societys View

Proverbs 16:25 (NIV)
"There is a way that appears to be right, but in the end leads to death."

Today we live in a society where if you do not know what the bible says you can be led down a path that leads to "death."  If you look at today's society you and had no idea of the bible, you could be led to think that supporting homosexuality or being homosexual is okay, rioting and destroying others' property or public property is okay, premarital sex is okay, and drunkenness is okay.  But, I know from reading the word of God that it these things are not okay.

It is a hot topic about supporting these things. What kind of Christians are we if we support sin? I have a friend that I know is a homosexual, I tell him that I believe that it is a sin and that it is a sinful temptation just like drunkenness, lust, stealing etc... I am nice and kind to him however, he knows that I will not support his dating life. He respects my view, but was surprised when I approached it without being hateful.

I care about all people and believe that we are all in need of salvation. I believe that we are all tempted to sin in one way or another. But I let everyone know where I stand and that I will not support any of their sinful behavior. The people that I am friends with, work with, and my family all know that I make a conscious effort to look to the bible to decide if something is right or wrong.

Knowing that I fall victim to sin, and that I have areas that I am tempted, helps me relate to others. The thing is that we need to call sin, sin and repent from our evil ways and desires. We can show others love without supporting their sinful ways, and we can let them know where we stand on those touchy subjects as well.

Challenge: Look at the people you associate with, are you supporting their sinful ways? Let those around you know where you stand and what you believe is wrong. Do not let society shape your views of right and wrong, rather look to the bible for guidance.

“If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” Romans 10:9
