Where do you look for hope?
Romans 15:13 (NIV)
"May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit."
I often hear others say that they feel like all hope is lost in times of tragedy. I myself battle with the feeling of hopelessness in certain circumstances in my life. Glory be to God that we do have a source of hope to turn to, the word of God. But, the key to this passage of scripture is that you have to trust in the Lord. Putting our trust and faith in God, accepting Christ as our savior and being filled with the Holy Spirit, gives us an eternal hope.
We can have the hope that we will see our fellow believers in heaven. That he will wipe away every tear, that there will no longer be pain and suffering, and that we will no longer be harassed by the temptation of sin. We can have hope by trusting that God's will is perfect and that he has everything in control. He knows our needs and he will fulfill those as long as we are faithful to him.
We are blessed to have the scripture and be able to read it. The bible is full of promises and we can believe that God will fulfill them. Reading his word will give us hope for the future, comfort in our times of sorrow, and peace when we lack understanding. As long as we trust in the Lord our God he will give you hope in abundance.
Challenge: When you, or someone you know is feeling hopeless, turn to the Lord and trust in him. He is our source of hope and has control over everything.
“If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” Romans 10:9 (NIV)
