Where do you look for hope?

Romans 15:13 (NIV) "May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit." I often hear others say that they feel like all hope is lost in times of tragedy. I myself battle with the feeling of hopelessness in certain circumstances in my life. Glory be to God that we do have a source of hope to turn to, the word of God. But, the key to this passage of scripture is that you have to trust in the Lord. Putting our trust and faith in God, accepting Christ as our savior and being filled with the Holy Spirit, gives us an eternal hope. We can have the hope that we will see our fellow believers in heaven. That he will wipe away every tear, that there will no longer be pain and suffering, and that we will no longer be harassed by the temptation of sin. We can have hope by trusting that God's will is perfect and that he has everything in control. He knows our needs and he will fulfill those a...

Societys View

Proverbs 16:25 (NIV) "There is a way that appears to be right, but in the end leads to death." Today we live in a society where if you do not know what the bible says you can be led down a path that leads to "death."  If you look at today's society you and had no idea of the bible, you could be led to think that supporting homosexuality or being homosexual is okay, rioting and destroying others' property or public property is okay, premarital sex is okay, and drunkenness is okay.  But, I know from reading the word of God that it these things are not okay.   It is a hot topic about supporting these things. What kind of Christians are we if we support sin? I have a friend that I know is a homosexual, I tell him that I believe that it is a sin and that it is a sinful temptation just like drunkenness, lust, stealing etc... I am nice and kind to him however, he knows that I will not support his dating life. He respects my view, but was surprised when I appro...

Is divorce right or wrong?

Matthew 19:8-9 "Jesus replied, "Moses permitted you to divorce your wives because your hearts were hard. But it was not this way from the beginning. I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, and marries another woman commits adultery." This passage is a hard pill for a lot of modern day Christians to swallow. I see many marriages ending because they cannot get along, they are unhappy, or because they are not "in love anymore." Do I believe some marriages are a mistake? Of course, when the couple does not consult God before entering that sacred and holy covenant, I am sure you can make a mistake.  But, does that mean you can just get a divorce and nullify that covenant because you are not happy? No! You make some mistakes that biblically you literally have to live with.  The only exception is sexual immorality. Another pill that is hard to swallow is earlier in Matthew 5:32 "But I tell you that anyone who divorces his ...
