Do you know what is right?

Proverbs 28:5 (NIV) “Evildoers do not understand what is right, but those who seek the Lord understand it fully.” I want to focus on the second half of this verse. Those who seek the Lord understand what is right. How do you seek the Lord? You should be spending time with him in prayer, reading the Bible, going to church and Bible studies. If you are not doing any of these things than I dare to say that you are not seeking the Lord. If you want to know what is right and wrong you need to read the Bible and seek the Lord God. When I seek advice I will only consult with those who I know are seeking the Lord. I do not want to get advice from someone who is engulfed by the world. Wisdom comes from the Lord and if they do not have an apparent relationship with God then I question any “wisdom” that they try to share with me. If someone says something that does not sound scriptural I urge you to question it and have them show you in the Bible and the context. It is ...

What is faith?

Hebrews 11:1-2 (NIV) "Now Faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. This is what the ancients were commended for." We are given the answer of what faith is here in Hebrews. As you read on in the 11th chapter it gives examples of Old Testament characters and what faith looks like. Abraham picked up and left for a place that he had never laid eyes upon in faith of God's promise. Noah had faith that it was going to flood though there had never been such a rain before. There are many great examples of faith in the bible.  Ephesians 2:8-9 says, "For is is by grace you have been saved, through FAITH, and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God" The faith we are to have is that Jesus is the son of God, born of a virgin, who was perfect - without sin, died on the cross for our sins, and was raised on the third day. We were not there to see the miracles, or see him resurrected, we did not see and do not see heaven b...

What are you building with?

1 Corinthians 3:10-15 (NIV) "By the grace God has given me, I laid a foundation as a wise builder, and someone else is building on it. But each one should build with care. For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ. If anyone builds on this foundation using gold, silver, costly stones, wood hay or straw, their work will be shown for what it is, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test the quality of each person's work. If what has been built survives, the builder will receive a reward. If it is burned up, the builder will suffer loss but yet will be saved - even though only as one escaping through the flames." As a Christian, at some point in our life, someone has laid that foundation of Jesus Christ. If we do nothing else after we accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, we are still saved by the grace of God. From the time the foundation is laid we are responsible fo...
